About Myth & Mirror
"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are." - Carl Jung
The Journey That Created Myth & Mirror
This platform wasn't born from academic interest or business opportunity. It emerged from necessity—from years spent in the trenches of my own shadow work, desperately searching for clear, honest guidance in a landscape cluttered with spiritual bypassing and superficial self-help.
My journey into shadow work began not with books or courses, but with a crisis. Like many people, I'd constructed an identity around being "good"—the helper, the understanding one, the person who never got angry or selfish. This persona worked beautifully until it didn't. Panic attacks, chronic anxiety, and relationships that kept repeating the same painful patterns finally forced me to look beneath the surface.
What I found there terrified me: rage I'd never acknowledged, needs I'd always denied, judgments I'd projected onto others for years. The "good person" I thought I was had a shadow that was tired of being exiled. That discovery—that I contained multitudes beyond my carefully curated self-image—became the doorway to real transformation.
I spent the next decade immersed in Jungian psychology, Internal Family Systems therapy, somatic work, and every modality that promised to help integrate what I'd split off. I read Jung's collected works, studied with depth psychologists, attended workshops, and most importantly, did the daily work of meeting my shadows with curiosity instead of shame.
The transformation was both more difficult and more liberating than I imagined. As I reclaimed my anger, I found my boundaries. As I acknowledged my selfishness, I discovered authentic generosity. As I owned my judgment, I developed real discernment. The parts of me I'd been most ashamed of contained the very qualities I needed most.
But what struck me throughout this journey was how inaccessible much of this wisdom remained. Jungian analysis was prohibitively expensive. Books were often dense and academic. Online resources either oversimplified to the point of uselessness or were so esoteric that practical application was impossible. And worse, much of what passed for "shadow work" was actually spiritual bypassing in disguise—using the language of psychology to avoid real feeling and change.
Myth & Mirror was created to bridge that gap. I wanted to offer what I wish I'd had: clear, comprehensive, trauma-informed guidance on shadow work that respected both the psychological and spiritual dimensions of the process. Every article on this site reflects not just research and theory, but lived experience—the lessons learned from my own stumbles, resistances, breakthroughs, and integrations.
This work has profoundly changed my life. My relationships are more authentic because I'm no longer hiding half of myself. My creativity flows more freely because I've stopped censoring what wants to emerge. My capacity for genuine compassion has deepened because I've learned to extend it to all parts of myself, not just the "acceptable" ones. And I've discovered that wholeness—not perfection—is the real goal of being human.
Shadow work isn't about becoming a better version of yourself. It's about becoming a whole version of yourself. It's not about transcending your humanity but fully inhabiting it—the light and the dark, the strength and the vulnerability, the beauty and the shadow. This is the message that drives everything we create here.
I continue to do my own shadow work daily. New layers emerge as I grow and as life presents new challenges. I'm still discovering projections I've missed, patterns I've overlooked, and parts of myself I've yet to fully welcome home. This isn't a limitation—it's the nature of the work. Shadow work is a lifelong practice, not a destination.
If you're reading this, you're likely on your own shadow work journey or considering beginning one. Welcome. This path requires courage—the courage to see yourself fully, to feel what you've avoided, to reclaim what you've rejected. But it's also the most rewarding work you'll ever do. On the other side of your shadows lies your wholeness, your authenticity, your power, and your freedom.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for choosing consciousness over comfort, wholeness over perfection, truth over performance. Your willingness to do this work doesn't just transform your own life—it ripples out to everyone you touch. Every shadow you integrate helps heal the collective shadow. Every projection you withdraw changes the relational field around you. This work matters more than you know.
May you find the courage to meet yourself fully—shadows and all.
